Sheffield healthcare company JRI Orthopaedics is marking the start of its 50th anniversary year with a major international conference.
Some of the biggest names in the orthopaedic community will be speaking at the inaugural Pathways Conference being held in London in October.
The independent, scientific meeting will be chaired by Prof Justin Cobb, Chair of Orthopaedics and clinical lead at Imperial College, London, and orthopaedic surgeon to HM The Queen.
It aims to explore and discuss new technologies that offer improved patient outcomes and programme sessions will cover device design, surgical approaches, revision strategy and assistive technologies such as computer navigation, robotics and 3D pre-operative planning.
The Pathways international orthopaedic conference marks the start of the 50th anniversary celebrations of multi-award winning JRI Orthopaedics.
Founded in 1969 by orthopaedic surgeon Ronald Furlong, the Sheffield-based company was the first in the world to produce a hip implant with a Hydroxyapatite coating enabling a biological bond with the patient’s bone and so the prospect of a hip for life.
Today, JRI Orthopaedics has world-class expertise in the design, development and manufacture of a portfolio of orthopaedic implants and systems which deliver first class solutions in joint reconstruction, repair and regeneration.

The conference, being held at 30 Euston Square, London, has already attracted leading surgeons and researchers from the UK and, internationally, from Barcelona to Beijing.
These include Johan Witt, Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon at University College Hospitals, London and Prof Gunnar Flivik, an Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics at Lund University, Sweden, who has written over 40 articles and is actively engaged in the study of Revision Hip Arthroplasty.
