What’s the next big idea for Doncaster? This is just one of the important questions local businesses are answering in the new Doncaster Business Insight Survey.

The quarterly survey is an opportunity for local businesses to voice their opinions and influence strategic decisions to encourage business growth and boost the economy.

Hundreds of businesses will participate in the new survey run by Doncaster Chamber in association with Business Doncaster and sponsored by Proaktive. It’s an opportunity for local business leaders to report on how business is faring and comment on some of the borough’s key strategies in the making.

This quarter the survey asks businesses on topical matters including the proposed Doncaster Sheffield Airport rail link, Doncaster’s ambition to become a university town, mental health in the workplace, and how good a place Doncaster is to do business.

Dan Fell, Chief Executive of Doncaster Chamber said: “With Doncaster on the cusp of great things for education, logistics, wellbeing and new investments, but equally with so much uncertainty from Brexit and skills shortages, it’s vital that the right business support and policies are in place to support business growth and boost the economy.

“Through conducting the Doncaster Business Insight Survey, in association with Doncaster MBC, Doncaster Chamber will gain a good snapshot of business needs, be better informed to influence key decision makers and ensure things get done.”

Locally, Doncaster MBC will use the results as a way of road testing the progress being made through their business and education strategies that address issues such as the skills gap, infrastructure and wellbeing.

The survey forms part of the national Quarterly Economic Survey carried out by the British Chambers of Commerce and is used to shape local, regional and national policies. The results will be combined with other regional Chambers’ feedback and used by the British Chambers of Commerce to inform Governmental policy-makers and by the Bank of England and Treasury when making monetary policies and setting rates.

For every survey submitted by a Doncaster-based business, £1 will be donated to a local charity. It only takes three minutes to complete, is open until 11 June 2018 and can be taken by CEOs or senior managers of businesses with a DN postcode to do a quick sense check on how their business is doing in terms of recruitment, sales, profits, turnover, entering new markets and other key business issues.
