Frenchgate Shopping Centre is gearing up for one the biggest days in the retail calendar.
Shopaholics are set to flock to Frenchgate on Friday 29th November to take advantage of the Black Friday discounts on a range of items and products.
The centre is getting involved with the annual phenomenon and numerous shops will be taking part including Argos, Debenhams, Sainsbury’s, River Island, Next and New Look who will be offering deals on electronics, clothes, beauty and more.
Black Friday was a term used by the police in the 1960’s to describe the traffic caused by shoppers on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Originating in Philadelphia, Black Friday soon spread throughout America and eventually across the pond to the UK.
Black Friday is one of the largest events in the UK consumer calendar with £1.23billion spent in 2018 over the duration of the weekend.
Karen Staniforth, Assistant General Manager of Frenchgate Shopping Centre, said:
“Black Friday is one of the biggest and most significant days in the retail calendar for Frenchgate with many of our stores offering incredible discounts just before Christmas. Shops will be starting their Black Friday discounts in the run up to the main event so savvy shoppers will be able to take advantage of bargains throughout the whole week.
“On Black Friday the doors will open at 9am giving customers time to get down to the shopping centre early to avoid any disappointment. We would advise shoppers to check individual store opening times to ensure they have plenty of time to hunt for the best deals and enjoy the thrill of rushing to the high street to catch the incredible reductions that will be on offer – the centre will be open until 8pm.”
Frenchgate will be full of Christmas spirit on Black Friday and children can experience festive fun with the magic of Santa’s Woodland Workshop up until Tuesday 24th December. Children can meet Santa, and personally choose their own gift from a wide range available.
