To pin Redtooth down to just one definition in their ventures would be difficult to say the least.

Split into four subsidiaries – quizzes, poker, memorabilia and events, the business offers a wide range of entertainment and services – including the UK’s current largest live pub poker league – the company’s goal is to drive footfall back into licensed premises and local trade.

Managing Director Martin Green took the business from humble beginnings to industry leadership in the pub entertainment and services sector – supplying endless entertainment to pubs, clubs, bars and the licensed trade across the country.

Martin said: “Loyal customers are the life and soul of our business, with most of our custom coming in through recommendations, repeat business and word of mouth.

“Our main goals at Redtooth are to offer exceptionally high-quality products and services to the pub trade, so that we can help assist and increase trade in venues – we want to keep the industry alive!”

Founded in Martin’s parents’ attic way back in 2001, the company now boasts a team of 20 staff at its headquarters in Barlborough, Derbyshire and a further 20 team members across the UK and abroad.

The team plans to continue expanding further, with a current total of four premises in Barlborough and Meadowhall.

Having begun life as Redtooth Quizzes, the company climbed the ranks of success to become the largest supplier of pub quizzes in the UK, with over 3,000 pubs and clubs receiving their weekly quiz.

Growth continued, and the business became arguably most well-known for Redtooth Poker, which has more than 1000 venues taking part and in excess of 230,000 registered players as well as casino nights.

This generated the annual VEGAS100 event, a nationwide pub poker tournament seeking the best players in the country, eventually flying out more than 250 regional winners and guests to take part in the main event in Las Vegas. With the annual prize pool now exceeding over £300,000 Redtooth Poker offer the biggest prize pool in pub poker history.

Proving hugely successful, Redtooth Poker was named Best Poker League at the UK Poker Awards for two consecutive years.

One of Redtooth Events’ most popular experiences is ‘Beat the Beast’ – a chance to take on Mark Labbett from The Chase in a head to head game show format – something the Redtooth team have taken all over the country.

Designed for corporate events, charity fundraisers or even just general quiz nights, the quiz features several different challenges, from traditional pen-and-paper quizzes to more interactive technology.

Similarly, in 2019 Redtooth Memorabilia was established – providing authentic memorabilia from stage, screen and sports as well as managing live or silent auctions for events of all size.

Redtooth Memorabilia is also behind the innovative silent auction technology – conceived in-house under the memorabilia and framing branch of the company – which will eventually be rolled out for free at various charity events across the country, with the aim of making it as popular as Redtooth’s traditional paper-based silent auction.

Martin added: “The free silent auction service has been particularly beneficial to the charity work Redtooth have done.

“As a business we value being able to make a difference to charities close to our hearts and over the years we’ve been able to donate tens of thousands of pounds to foundations, whether these are local or national.”

In the last quarter of 2018 alone, Redtooth raised more than £25,000 for charities including the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce charity of the year SCCCC, as well as Cash for Kids, Bluebell Wood and Weston Park Cancer Charity.

In addition to Redtooth’s core services, the business continues to introduce new, innovative services and products into the pub industry – ranging from Redtooth Darts to the introduction of Casino Nights.

The company has also begun to provide tech support for corporate events such as Sheffield United 125th Celebration at Ponds Forge and a range of live entertainment for Magna Science Adventure Centre’s highly popular Christmas Events.

Looking to the future, the team are developing a ground-breaking smart phone quiz – designed to make the Redtooth experience more interactive for keen quizzers – due for release in January 2020.

Martin said: “We’re aiming to increase brand awareness and marketing opportunities for the future, by continuing to evolve and enhance website and social media presence by utilising the latest trends and technology.”
