A leading Sheffield healthcare company is helping employees to ‘start the year with a health kick’.

Braun Medical Ltd launched the latest stage of its health and wellbeing programme with a 12-week nutritionist course – free of charge for employees.

The B. Healthy – B. Braun campaign initiative is coordinated by Andrew Picken, the company’s dedicated Health and Wellbeing Adviser, who regularly consults with staff to plan activities and an overall approach suited to their needs.

The course, which will operate over lunch breaks to ensure it is accessible to all staff, will cover nutrition, why diets don’t work, healthy weight loss, physical activity and myth busting.

Andrew said: “This is a course we’ve been keen to run for employees and we thought the new year would be a fitting time – helping staff to start the new year with a health kick!

“Employee health is something we take seriously at B. Braun – we want to support our staff to eat well and live healthily as much as possible.

“As we all know, sticking to a new year’s resolution can be difficult, so this programme is a great way in taking the right steps towards healthy eating habits.

“It’s all about small, manageable behaviour changes which can lead to a big difference.”

Andrew chairs an employee-led health and wellbeing group which gathers staff feedback to help tailor and steer the initiative. He previously worked for the Change4Life programme before joining B. Braun.

The latest addition to the B. Healthy B. Braun programme comes after the company was recognised in this year’s Workplace Health & Wellbeing category at the prestigious Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) Awards.

The course is run by Everyone Health and follows NHS Guidelines on healthy eating. Everyone Health offers a behaviour change approach to improving the health of local communities by delivering integrated, dynamic and bespoke prevention and treatment solutions for a wide range of partners across the sectors.

Hans Hux, Chairman & Group Chief Executive of B. Braun Medical Ltd, said: “Our employees are the key to our organisation’s success, so we feel it is important for us to do what we can to support them with their health and wellbeing – this programme is the latest step in achieving that.

“New year is often a time that many of us want to detox a little and look at our lifestyle behaviours, so it comes at a perfect time and we hope it provides real help and advice in a key area of health and wellbeing.”

The leading South Yorkshire-based company recently celebrated a hat-trick of gold awards after being recognised with Investors in People (IiP) Gold accreditation for the third consecutive time.
