Budding entrepreneurs are being given an opportunity to make their dreams a reality by enrolling on a new online course offered by Barnsley College.

The Level 2 Aspects of Preparing to Set Up a New Business course is available to anyone with an interest in starting a business at some point in the future. No prior knowledge, qualifications or experience are required.

The 10-week course is delivered online using Microsoft Teams and the weekly sessions will last 90 minutes with a further 90 minutes of self-study, meaning students can gain a recognised qualification from the comfort of their home and study around existing family and work commitments.

Students will study topics that will enhance their understanding of starting a business and plan how to do this. They will gain knowledge of marketing, understand business finance, building business relationships and negotiating.

The new course will start in August and places are available to reserve now for £375. Students aged 19 and over may qualify for funding to cover the cost of this training (eligibility criteria applies).

Abby Holmes, Programme Manager within the Business, Warehousing and Logistics department at Barnsley College, said: “We’re excited to be extending our course provision and offering a new online course. By doing this, we’re allowing more people to study the course around their existing commitments and flexibility about when they study, enabling them to enhance their skills and take the first step to starting their own business.”
