The team at Springwood Residential Care Home in Shirecliffe are putting safety first thanks to staff at Chaucer School.

The school has been making polypropylene visors, all of which can be cleaned and reused, to help health care workers through the COVID-19 pandemic.

And Springwood – one of the chain of ten homes operated across the city by charity Sheffcare – were delighted to receive a consignment of 50 for staff use.

“This was a wonderful thoughtful gesture and we are extremely grateful to Chaucer School for thinking about us at this difficult time,” said the home’s manager Anita Bland.

“The safety of our staff as they continue to provide our usual outstanding levels of support for all our residents is vital.

“This donation gives everybody the confidence that we are doing everything we can to maintain our services.”
