National consumer law firm Simpson Millar has reaffirmed its commitment to its growth strategy with the acquisition of a personal injury book of business from Yorkshire-based Lupton Fawcett.

The move forms part of Simpson Millar’s ambitions to build on its market presence and market share, and to become one of the leading providers of consumer legal services to individuals and their families through its national network of 11 regional UK offices.

Commenting on the acquisition Anthony Hughes, Simpson Millar’s Chief Operating Officer, said: “With the backing of our owners, Doorway Capital, Simpson Millar is ideally placed to respond to market opportunities – even during the current Coronavirus crisis -  driven by continued regulatory reform, cost pressures, changing client demands, and to create a significant force within the consumer legal services market.

“Our ambitions laid out in our growth strategy will be met by developing our own ‘direct to market’ channels, as well as WIP acquisitions, and the acquisition of consumer-focused law firms.

“With WIP acquisitions and market consolidation in mind, the firm has set up a dedicated rapid response team which is able to immediately assess any new WIP acquisition opportunity and reach a decision within a very short period.

“With the expertise and ability to do these deals quickly – as well as to migrate and meet client needs quickly and effectively - puts us in a very strong position as we look into the near future given the uncertainty that many businesses are currently facing.

“Through this investment we are focused on further building the business by increasing our market share.

“in addition, further internal investment means we can deliver an enhanced client experience, giving consumers greater choice in how they meet their legal needs, and providing them with options ranging from full-service, assisted-service and self-service.”

Simpson Millar has expertise in public law, personal injury, medical negligence, holiday accident and illness claims, and industrial disease; residential conveyancing, family, public and employment law; as well as providing legal advice and guidance relating to wills and estate planning.
