Well known healthy fast food Sheffield Independent, Street Food Chef, will be re-opening as a collection and delivery business from their Sharrow Vale Road store.

Ten years after their first street food event, and six weeks after they closed due to the Coronavirus, their tasty and freshly made Mexican food will be available again.

A decade ago, Richard and Abi Golland traded at the Continental Market on Fargate from their 3m x 2m trailer. They were an instant hit, with customers coming back every day of the 3-day market.

“We learnt so much on that first outing,” Abi recalls, “we realised that it was important to us that we were proud of the food we serve, and we promised to each other that we would make everything from scratch from that day on. We still hold the same values 10 years later, we prepare and serve our food with love, endeavour to give the customer the best experience possible, and aim to keep things simple but do those things really well.”

It has been a roller coaster ride, learning how to run and grow a business.

“We have always made the food the star of the show,” Richard says, “and we believe this is why our customers have given us such great support. The love for Sheffield’s independent food scene really is incredible, and of course right now, this matters so much.

“We just had to open for our 10th birthday, even if the proper celebration has to happen next year, at least we’ll be rolling burritos!”

Whilst closed the guys have been working hard to streamline the business and put in measures to keep staff and customers safe.

They will be serving from their store on Sharrow Vale Road, from Wednesdays to Sundays.  You can get your Mexican food fix in two ways – use the City Grab app for delivery, or The Street Food Chef app for click and collect only.
