Bringing the sunshine, soul, and social life of Jamaica to the Steel City, Caribbean bar and restaurant, Turtle Bay, flung open the doors to its newest Sheffield branch last night at its vibrant and vivacious launch party.

To give a taste of its fiery jerk flavours and seriously smooth rums ahead of the grand opening on Sunday 3rd June, Turtle Bay invited people from all over the city to its newest location on Holly Street. Throughout the evening, they tucked into a sample of authentic Caribbean cooking (curry goat, anyone?) and cool cocktails, all to the backdrop of live music from reggae legends, Troy Ellis.

Seating 172 people in the 4,200 sqft site, the quirky and colourful bar and restaurant aims to bring the Caribbean life straight to Sheffield, through its perfect blend of shack-style interiors, fresh flavours, and friendly, relaxed atmosphere. It’s the result of an £800k investment programme that’s brought a dose of sunshine to the NUM Building.

When it opens, Turtle Bay will be serving up food and cocktails inspired by the warmth and soul of the Caribbean, all to a handpicked reggae soundtrack that blends classic roots rhythms with modern favourites.

Friends and families can expect to enjoy Caribbean culture in any way they want, from rich and explosive flavours to laid back ‘liming’ - relaxing and enjoying food, drink, conversation and laughter with mates. The signature dishes include their famous jerk chicken and curry goat, but there’s plenty for all palates to choose from including a new burger menu, salad selection and a great collection of dishes for vegetarians, vegans and gluten free diners. The zesty Caribbean dishes are all prepared in the restaurant’s tiled, open “street kitchen”.

Over 40 rums will also be available, served from the stunning central “beach shack” bar. Discover a diverse range of rum flavours and styles from across the Caribbean – including white, dark, spiced and overproof – that are perfect to be enjoyed on their own, or in one of the classic cocktails with a Turtle Bay twist. There’s also a selection of moreish signature cocktails, too.

Visitors to the new Sheffield restaurant will enjoy Turtle Bay’s famous Happy Hour, which lasts from opening to 7pm, and then starts up again 10pm till closing time throughout the week. This makes it the happiest Happy “Hour” (or several) in town with allof their cocktails available at 2-4-1 during that time – it’s a must for cocktail lovers and rum enthusiasts all week long.
