Frenchgate Shopping Centre will be getting in the festive spirit early and providing fun for the whole family with the launch of their Grinch themed Christmas Extravaganza event on Saturday 9th November.
Shoppers will be welcomed to ‘Frenchville Post Office’ – the Frenchgate version of Whoville, where children and parents can write three good deeds on a postcard to grow their hearts three times, just like the Grinch’s. Each of these postcards will be entered into an hourly prize draw with the opportunity to win a £100 Frenchgate gift card.
The one-day event will include different ‘Who’s’ and the Grinch himself, all from Frenchville. Customers can also visit the free glitter bar to add some sparkle to their hair and face and anyone who participates will be treated to three heart shaped chocolates.
Offering a magical experience, Santa’s Woodland Workshop will officially open on Saturday 9th November where up until Tuesday 24th December, children can meet Santa. This year children visiting the workshop will be able to personally choose their own gift from a wide range available.
The Christmas Extravaganza is a continuation of the Centre’s happiness campaign, which has been running throughout the year and encourages shoppers to spread and share happiness both inside and outside Frenchgate.
Local mental health charity, Doncaster Mind will be starting an initiative throughout the festive period to encourage shoppers to crochet and leave a ‘Mental Elf’ around the centre, as well as find and look after one’s that others have made. Frenchgate’s collaboration with Doncaster Mind is intended to help the local community participate in an activity that allows them to unwind, relax and relieve stress during a busy time.
Karen Staniforth, Assistant General Manager of Frenchgate, said:
“Christmas taught the Grinch that the real meaning of this time of year is love and happiness which ties in perfectly with our ongoing Happiness Movement. We hope that this event highlights that looking after one another at Christmas is the most important thing and happiness continues to be spread throughout the centre and across Doncaster this festive season.
“Christmas is a busy time, but it is also a time for families to spend time together and the fun filled Frenchgate Christmas Extravaganza event will keep children occupied with different free activities.
“The event will launch the start of Christmas shopping here at Frenchgate, and in the run up to Christmas we have Santa’s Woodland Workshop for children to come along and meet Santa as well as the Mental Elf initiative to help shoppers relax, unwind and consider their mental health.”
The one-day Christmas Extravaganza will take place on Saturday 9th November from 11am – 4pm.
The centre is opening for Black Friday on Friday 29th November and late-night shopping on Thursday 5th December, Thursday 12th December, Monday 16th December, Tuesday 17th December, Wednesday 18th December, Thursday 19th December and Friday 20th December.
