Crystal Peaks is going purple as it encourages staff to become more disability aware.
The award winning Sheffield shopping centre recently supported Purple Tuesday, the national campaign that makes customer-facing businesses more aware of the opportunities and challenges facing disabled visitors and inspires them to make changes to improve the disabled customer experience.
As a result, Crystal Peaks has pledged to provide more staff training opportunities to cover the issues of disability awareness.
And the centre will also participate in more sensory events like the recent successful Autism Hours, which saw shops throughout the complex dimming bright lights, reducing tannoy announcements and turning down music to creating a calmer shopping experience for autistic visitors.
“We are very pleased to be actively supporting Purple Tuesday, the UK’s first accessible shopping day, established to recognise the importance and needs of disabled consumers and promote inclusive shopping,” said centre manager Lee Greenwood.
“Our aim is always to create the best possible visitor experience for every Crystal Peaks guest and that is what we are now making definite moves to make every member of the Crystal Peaks team more aware of the needs of our disabled visitors.”
