St Luke’s Hospice is appealing for new volunteers to assist as it continues its programme of re-opening its shops and retail operations across the city.
The charity has an award-winning chain of shops as well as a Donation Centre - accepting items for sale - and Amazon and eBay sites.
But as more shops welcome back customers, St Luke’s is now looking for volunteers to help in all areas of the retail operation.
“The decision has been taken not to ask our volunteers over the age of 70 and under 18 years to return to a volunteering role in the first instance,” said Head of Volunteering Joy Wigfield.
“In making these decisions, we’ve responded to Government guidelines in considering our duty of care to staff, volunteers and members of the public and their safety.
“Volunteering continues to play a vital role at St Luke’s into the future, but we must reintroduce it in a way that is safe for us all, and which considers our overall recovery plans.
“With these considerations in mind, though, we do now need to seek out new volunteers, whose support is vital in getting our retail operations running across the city.
“There are opportunities to join the teams in shops across the city and at our Donation Centre.
