One of Sheffield’s leading older persons charities is aiming to boost the number of people referred for its services by adding a new role to its expanding team.
Sheffield Churches Council for Community Care (SCCCC) has appointed Helen Coates to the brand new role of engagement officer with the aim of strengthening relationships with new and existing partner organisations.
Helen’s role will also see her establish new joint initiatives with public sector and other partners, to extend the reach of the charity’s work with hundreds of isolated older people across the city.
Helen said: “I was really keen to work for SCCCC as they have such a strong heritage in Sheffield’s health and social care sector. It’s a very well-respected charity, which is always striving for excellence and really committed to high quality care and services for older people. “In terms of my role, my aim is for SCCCC to be even better known and appreciated across the city. I’ll do this by strengthening the partnerships we already have, and looking out for ways we can engage prospective partners in new initiatives.”
SCCCC works closely with the statutory agencies in Sheffield to provide a network of support for mainly older people, their carers and families. Most of the charity’s work helps older people in their own homes, but can also support them if they are admitted to or discharged from hospital or living in a residential home.
