Construction industry apprentice Stacey Chapman has been highly commended in the prestigious Barnsley College Awards 2018.

Stacey, who is 17 and comes from Grantham, is a CAD Technician Apprentice with FP McCann, the UK’s largest manufacturer and supplier of precast concrete solutions.

As an apprentice with the company she is also currently studying with T3 Training & Development, the South Yorkshire based training provider that offers a free, intensive fast track development programme to deliver apprentices into the role of Structural Technicians within the construction industry, along with other construction professional apprenticeships.

T3 training manager Nicola Barratt said: “I nominated Stacey for the Equality and Diversity award as she is a great ambassador and promotes the sector to other females by actively encouraging them to apply for roles in this predominantly male industry.

“She is very dedicated a really hard worker and even travelled from Grantham to Barnsley every day for ten weeks in order to attend the fast track training provided by T3 Training to give her the skills needed in her new job role and enable her to hit the ground running when she returned to work.”

Stacey said: “I was surprised to be nominated for an award and was highly commended for the work I do to encourage other females into this industry.

“It makes it worthwhile to know my voice is appreciated and also heard by others.”
