Potential new students will have the opportunity to find out about the wide range of courses on offer at the Barnsley College and Barnsley Sixth Form College Virtual Open Event on Thursday 21 January, from 4.00pm to 7.00pm.

Rated outstanding by Ofsted, Barnsley College and Barnsley Sixth Form College offer education for everyone; including full and part-time vocational courses, A Levels, T Levels (Technical qualifications) and apprenticeships in a wide range of subjects.

Due to the current Covid-19 situation, the Open Event will be virtual one, meaning visitors can explore our range of courses from the comfort of their own home.

This virtual event will allow prospective students to attend online information sessions where they can chat to tutors and find out more about a specific course, career or future job markets and our connections with leading employers. They can also talk to Student Services about student finance, the Health and Wellbeing Centre, Job Shop and travelling to and from College campuses, including free coach services from a number of local areas. The Information, Advice and Guidance team will also be available to discuss options for those who may not know the course they wish to study.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to see the fantastic facilities and examples of students’ work in the virtual music chill out lounge.

The event will also provide the opportunity find out more about the support services available at the College including the Students’ Union, the Sports Academy and Additional Learning Support.

Yiannis Koursis, Principal and Chief Executive Officer at the College, said: “We know choosing the right college and the right course is an important decision for you. Our virtual Open Day gives you the opportunity to find out about studying with us from your own home.

“At Barnsley College, our friendly and knowledgeable staff are here to support you to make the right decision which will allow you to take your first steps towards securing your dream career.

“We offer a wide range of qualifications ranging from entry level though to degree level, and we’re proud to be the only college in South Yorkshire to offer T Level qualifications (in Construction; Digital; Education and Childcare; and Healthcare), ideal for those who prefer a more technical education as opposed to academic study or an apprenticeship.

“We have a leading A Level provision, covering everything from Chemistry, Health, and Geography, through to Law, Media Studies, and Politics. There is something for everybody, as you take the next steps towards your future education and careers.

“Our connections with employers in all industry sectors allow students the opportunity to participate in guest speaker sessions and complete industry placements, all of which are a great addition to your CV or UCAS application, so when the time comes to apply for higher level study or employment you’ve got real experience that you can draw on.

“We are dedicated to transforming lives and we support all our students to achieve their career goals and aspirations. We can’t wait to welcome you as part of our College community.”
