One of the region’s leading further education providers will be hosting a duo of events to both hone and refine their curriculum and to attract and inform future students on courses and services.

The college will be hosting an employer advisory board on the 24 May, between 1-4pm at The Chesterfield Panthers RUFC on Dunston Road.

This advisory board will be focusing specifically on Health, Business, Education, Sport and Public Services – allowing employers from these fields to have a say on how they want the next generation of such professionals to be educated, helping to bridge the gap of any relevant knowledge or skills that may currently be lacking within the current workforce.

Daniel Laverick, Director of Marketing and Customer Experience at Chesterfield College, said: “These are short events where we ask employers in to tell us what their sector/industry needs in terms of skills and knowledge development. This then informs how the college plans its curriculum and how we teach and train our students and apprentices.”

Working closely and building relationships with local employers, and conducting research into the surrounding area’s labour force to unearth its needs and projections allows the College to formulate the curriculum appropriately, mirroring the requirements discovered.

The education centre will also be hosting an open evening on the 13 June between 4:30-7:00pm.

The event will be held at Chesterfield College’s Infirmary Road Campus (near to the centre of the town) and will provide an opportunity for potential or future students to attend and to be informed on the courses offered, including university-level, adult part-time and apprenticeships.

The Chesterfield College Group has more than 10,000 students and apprentices currently enrolled in either their classroom or work-based training programmes, with achievement rates above the national average. More than 98 per cent of classroom-based students and 93.9 per cent of all work work-based students progressing on to either further study or paid employment upon leaving the college.
