The Sheffield College has appointed Angela Foulkes as its permanent Chief Executive and Principal.

Angela joined the College as Principal in September 2017 and has also been Acting Chief Executive since November 2017. Her new role is effective from May 21 2018.

Angela said: “I feel incredibly privileged to have been given the chance to serve The Sheffield College, and also the City where I’ve lived for the last 10 years, as Chief Executive and Principal.”

She added: “Students are at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to delivering a high quality learning experience and building on our curriculum strengths so that more employers get the skills they need for growth.”

Angela has 26 years’ experience in further education with expertise across a broad range of curriculum and student support services.

Before she joined The Sheffield College, Angela was Vice Principal for Curriculum and Support at The Manchester College.

Angela taught English for several years before leading a large team focussed on adult literacy and numeracy skills in inner city London.

Angela, who has also held senior leadership roles in London colleges and was a Vice Principal at Barnsley College, lives in Sheffield with her partner and two children.

Seb Schmoller, Chair of The Sheffield College Governing Body, said: “The Governing Body’s selection panel was unanimous and unequivocal in its recommendation to the Governing Body to appoint Angela. She closely fits all the stated requirements of the post; and the governors think that Angela will be able successfully to support and lead the College through the next stage of its development.”

He added: “A wide range of local stakeholders, and staff at all levels, were involved in the selection process. On behalf of the Governing Body, I would like to thank them for the support they have given.”
