Laura Riley, the founder and CEO of Sheffield charity Mums In Need, has been shortlisted for Stylist’s ‘Inspiration of the Year’ award, as part of the magazine’s inaugural ‘Remarkable Women’ awards ceremony.

After moving to Sheffield in 2013, Laura Riley created Mums In Need as an online support network for mothers who had suffered emotional abuse by an ex-partner, as she had gone through this herself.

Today Mums In Need is a registered charity currently supporting more than 30 women with services including one-to-one sessions, coffee mornings, legal and financial advice, and a variety of workshops.

Reflecting on the charity’s success and her nomination, Laura said: “I’m really proud of how far the charity has come and it’s brilliant to see the positive impact that it has on the women’s lives.

“It’s a real honour to be nominated for this award – our charity is all about empowering women so it will be wonderful to experience an awards ceremony that is all about celebrating women’s achievements.”

The Inspiration of the Year award is the only category which is voted for by the public at the Remarkable Women Awards.

People can vote for Laura by emailing rwa@stylist.co.uk with her name in the subject line. Voting closes 28th February.

Mums In Need invites people to share their reasons for voting for Laura on social media with the hashtag #LauraIsInspirational.
