Local businesses forced to close due under tier three restrictions are being urged to access new grant funding.
On October 24, Doncaster was put under tier three restrictions and the Government pledged further support for the hospitality and leisure sector businesses which were forced to close as a result.
This financial support will be available to public houses and bars (except those selling substantial meals) betting shops, casinos, adult gaming centres and soft play centres.
An online claim form for the Local Restrictions Support Grant (LRSG) for eligible businesses is now available on the Doncaster Council website, and Doncaster Chamber is encouraging all those affected to apply.
To do so, individuals will need to meet certain eligibility criteria, have a MyDoncaster account and provide details about themselves, their business and their business bank account. Payments are expected within 10 working days.
Andy Hibbitt, Doncaster Chamber’s Chief Operating Officer, said: “Now the details around this grant have been announced, it is so important that affected businesses get in touch with the council and apply.
“Whilst this grant is welcome support for businesses who have been forced to close, it isn’t enough on its own. We expect details on further support for businesses – including those who have not been forced to close but have been adversely affected – over the coming week.”
LRSG payments will be available to eligible business premises, dependent upon their rateable value, for each two-week period of closure following the start of the localised restrictions.
The level of grant is set for every two weeks of closure at £667 for premises with a rateable value of £15,000 or less, £1000 for those with a rateable value between £15,001 and less than £51,000 and at £1,500 for those with a rateable value of greater than £51,000.
Eligibility criteria for the scheme has been set by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and includes the relevant state aid regulations with which businesses must comply.
Cllr Bill Mordue, Doncaster Council’s Cabinet Member for Business, Skills and Economic Development, said: “This grant will help businesses which have been forced to close as a result of the latest local lockdown restrictions. If you run a business and think you qualify then I urge you to get in touch with the council and get the support you need.”
