Sheffield Business Awards Edition

Hugo Russell, director of NowThen Cleaners, tells us how pleased he and his ‘fantastic’ staff are that their ‘quality, reliable, modern’ business have been shortlisted in the Sheffield Business Awards

I was inspired to enter the Sheffield Business Awards because…

Since launching in 2015 NowThen Cleaners have organically grown year on year, but in the past year growth has really taken off.  I felt our fantastic staff and the company deserve the accolade of having a prestigious Sheffield Business Award. Therefore, I put our hat in the ring for this years High Growth Business of the year award, and was delighted to have been shortlisted. We are all really looking forward to attending our first Sheffield Business Awards.

Being shortlisted in the Sheffield Business Awards is important to me because…

Being shortlisted shows how far NowThen Cleaners has come in the last 4 years. Launched with £200 and a laptop from my corporate job in London, I would never have envisaged having 50 staff and monthly revenues this year surpassing £50K.

My favourite thing about running my business is….

Working with such a brilliant team of hard-working cleaners. Cleaning is hard manual work, so to have a team that love coming to work and go the extra mile means the world to me.

The three words that best describe my business are….

Quality / Reliable / Modern

Sheffield City Region is a great place to grow a business because…

Everyone is friendly and has a sense of humour! This is a massive help in the cleaning industry, and has allowed us to forge great relationships with clients, staff and suppliers alike. There is also a tonne of business support on offer in Sheffield, which helps you through those testing few years. In addition to this as we are able to operate across a broad sector range as Sheffield City Region has a very diverse set of businesses. We will be exhibiting at Showcase Sheffield on Oct 23rd on Stand 8, come down and say hello!

The organisations that have supported me and my business include…

Wosskow Brown Foundation – Provided incubation space in our first year and ongoing business mentorship with Jim Lawson.
Business Sheffield – Found their courses very useful and still to this day our office team learn from them.
University of Sheffield – Attended IBIS growth course.
Sheffield Chamber of Commerce

In 5 years’ time I expect my business to…

Expand greatly our client base, service offering, and geographical reach all while maintaining the quality and reliability that has underpinned our early successes. I expect we will have moved from a small sized business to a medium sized business with a team well above 100 employees. We also hope to continue to building strong working relationships with more excellent Sheffield Businesses, NowThen Cleaners are in a great position being able to learn about our clients and support the day-to-day running of their businesses through our cleaning management.
