The search is on for a second start up company to join the businesses at Sheffield’s acclaimed Krynkl development.
The Krynkl project at Shalesmoor, devised by award winning city multi disciplinary practice Coda Studios, was created entirely from recycled shipping containers.
The £500,000 eco-friendly design design – the first of its type outside London – won the support of Sheffield Council and is now home to several companies including Redbrik Sales and Lettings Agents, Sis Beauty, Dermaglow, R1SE Youga Studio, Chocolate Mester, Colloco, Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant Joro and the Sky Bar.
But space has also being set aside specifically to encourage start up businesses to move in and take advantage of what has being described as a ‘mini creative industries hub.’
The first winner of the scheme in 2016 was creative events agency Freshly Squeezed, launched by partners Laura Thomas and Celina Ploskonka.
And now that their year in Krynkl is coming to and end, the search is on for another start up to take up a space within the complex and make the most of all the facilities and support available for successful growth.
“We are offering free office units for 12 months to the city’s best and most innovative start up businesses,” said Coda Studios Managing Director David Cross.
“We are inviting young start up businesses and entrepreneurs to write to us with their business proposal and explaining why they could benefit from being part of the unique Krynkl community.
“Freshly Squeezed have certainly made the most of their time in Krynkl and now they are ready to move to the next level we need another fledgling company with the same sort of vision and enthusiasm to see the potential in bringing their business into the Krynkl family.
“This isn’t just an office space, it’s a lifestyle and leisure development that can be adapted to any community’s needs,” said David.
“The past year has proved our faith in the Krynkl concept was entirely justified and we remain keen to encourage fledgling businesses to become part of this groundbreaking commercial concept.”
