Sheffield-based Electric Vehicle (EV) tech company Mina has announced the launch of a strategic partnership with Mitie to support its industry-leading transition to a fully electric fleet.

With an EV fleet already in excess of 500 vehicles, Mitie, the UK’s leading facilities management and professional services company, has committed to convert its entire fleet of 5,500 vehicles to zero emission models as part of ‘Plan Zero’, its commitment to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2025. As part of Plan Zero, Mitie has also pledged to use its expertise to support its customers with their own net zero journey and transition to a zero carbon fleet, supported by Mina’s innovative energy payment technology.

While its EV rollout is on track, one of the barriers to Mitie achieving this target is an inability to easily pay for employees’ home charging. Mina is proud to announce that Mitie is now using their revolutionary ‘EV fuel card’ system within the Mitie EV fleet. Through this, Mina’s software will integrate with the existing charge points installed in Mitie employees’ homes, as well as the driver’s energy suppliers, to offer seamless payment of EV energy.

Ashley Tate, Founder of Mina Energy said: “Mitie’s market leading EV strategy has made plenty of headlines, and we are thrilled to be able to support such a forward looking business in their transition towards a fully electric fleet. With our unique home charging solution, drivers are able to charge their vehicles at the home with no cost or impact on their household electricity bill.”

Mitie’s Director of Sustainability and Social Value, Simon King, says: “We’re proud of Mitie’s ambitious commitment to convert our entire fleet to zero emission vehicles in just five years, while also supporting other businesses in making the switch. With the majority of our fleet based at employees’ homes, paying for charging directly not only makes things simpler for our business, but it’s the right thing to do by our people too.

“We’re excited to be working with Mina to bring this unique and innovative solution to Mitie’s and our customers’ fleets, so we can help get more electric vehicles on the road.”

Thanks to the low kWh costs of domestic energy compared to public charging, it pays to encourage employees to plug in at home. Saying goodbye to complicated expense claims and out-of-pocket employees, Mina helps fleet managers to remove these barriers; unlocking significant savings.

Mina makes charging electric vehicles radically simple. Going electric doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive; Mina enables individuals and fleets to charge their electric vehicles simply and easily, with their unique technology providing refreshingly simple charging solutions.
