Totley Pharmacy has stepped in to support St Luke’s Hospice through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following an appeal by the hospice for PPE equipment for staff, the hospice has received a special delivery from pharmacy owner and keen St Luke’s supporter Tajinder Singh.

Donations of masks, visors, headbands and wash bags have flowed in from local businesses and supporters following the appeal.

The St Luke’s teams need PPE to safely care for patients at its In Patient Centre, and for its Community Team visiting patients and families in their homes and care homes around Sheffield.

Tajinder said: “The whole community needs to support St Luke’s as it is doing such vital work and its staff need PPE for their own safety as well as that of their patients.

“I’m delighted to be able to help ensure St Luke’s can carry on caring for Sheffield.”

St Luke’s Chief Executive Peter Hartland said: “The support of organisations and supporters across our community has been fantastic, and thanks to them we’re able to work safely at the moment.

“I’d like to thank everyone, and I hope that you can continue to help us do our vital work.”

St Luke’s is currently supporting 430 patients and their families across Sheffield, and giving bereavement counselling to many of those who have lost loved ones.

St Luke’s services remain open through the Covid-19 emergency, and further details can be found at stlukeshospice.org.uk, by emailing keepintouch@hospicesheffield.co.uk, or by calling 0114 2369911.
