FRIENDS and supporters of Master Cutler Nick Cragg raised a glass in celebration as the 2019 Master Cutler’s Challenge came to an end.
The Master Cutler’s Challenge is the annual event which sees businesses sign up to use their entrepreneurial skills and teamwork to make as much money as possible for charity.
And more than 100 representatives of the 90 companies taking part this year joined the closing event at Sheffield’s historic Cutlers’ Hall, where there was a special beer – Cragg’s Challengers IPA – provided by Triple Point Brewery for the celebration.
Master Cutler Nick and his wife Liz also presented special awards to some of the challenge’s biggest fundraisers.
Among the recipients were Swinton and Aston Academies, Vivari, Aviva, Handelsbanken Rotherham, Burrows Motor Group, and DLA Piper.
The winner of the Most Amount Raised Award was Nicholas Associates who raised an incredible £13,300.
And there were special Spirit of the Challenge awards for Rotherham Hospice trustee Ted Daly – who cycles from Land’s End to John O’Groats – and young supporter Charlotte Wadsworth, who design for an a Challenge elephant ornament proved extremely popular.
Nick commented: “Both Liz and I have been delighted with the many ingenious ways people have devised to raise money for this year’s challenge.
“It will take a little while for the final total to be counted but we are hoping that a great year’s fundraising will make a massive difference to St Luke’s Hospice in Sheffield and Rotherham Hospice.
“I’d like to give a personal thankyou to all the people who have given their time so generously to make this event a great success.”
