A family-run business is on track to double in size this year after moving into new offices at The Business Village @BarnsleyBIC and expanding their team

Brook Corporate Developments has doubled the size of its office space, having previously had a smaller unit in one of the original buildings at the Wilthorpe site.

The company, which provides a wide range of consultancy and training services to predominantly SME businesses in South and West Yorkshire, was set up by Mike Brook 20 years ago. Mike’s son Dom took over the reins recently, having joined the company 18 months ago.

Dom said: “When we first moved into what was then BBIC it was a natural step to take for us.

“We’ve grown with BBIC and moving into the new building was the next part of the journey for us. We have received some valuable support over the years and being based here has given us a great platform for the future.

“We’ve grown quite extensively over the last 12-18 months, which is why we needed a bigger space with its own meeting area and a formal boardroom. We decided to take two inter-connected units in the new building and moved in at the beginning of February.

Brook Corporate Developments operates a multi-disciplinary approach, addressing issues affecting businesses, helping clients meet challenges and respond to opportunities.

The services its team of highly-skilled consultants can offer include everything from leadership and management to sales and marketing, and human resources to health and safety.

Dom added: “The Business Village has provided us with good network and business support through referrals and external brand awareness, which has been one of the most important things for us.

“We’re bang in the middle of South Yorkshire, with easy links up the road to West Yorkshire. These two areas are where the majority of the businesses we deal with are based.”

Business development manager at The Business Village, Kevin Steel said: “The exciting growth demonstrated by Dom and the team at Brook is typical of what’s going on in Barnsley. With the opening of our latest building, business is really bouncing back in Barnsley, especially here at The Business Village!

“The development of our new building has already seen nine existing tenant expansions, creating up to 15 new jobs in a variety of sectors including digital, creative, professional services, sales and marketing.

“We’ve also welcomed nine businesses who have relocated from elsewhere in the borough and seen three out of area companies joining us, with up to 20 new workers coming into Barnsley across a wide selection of industries including software engineering, financial services and health and fitness.”
