In the event of a no-deal Brexit, what would be the impact on local firms? This is just one of the important questions being asked in the latest Doncaster Business Insight Survey.
Hundreds of local businesses will participate in the new quarterly survey run by Doncaster Chamber in association with Business Doncaster and sponsored by ProAktive. It’s an opportunity for them to report on how business is faring and comment on some of the Government’s and borough’s key strategies in the making.
Firms are also being asked to comment on Doncaster Council’s draft Inclusive Growth Strategy to drive economic growth for the direct benefit all of Doncaster’s businesses, residents, families and communities. The results will be fed into a wider consultation, including a roundtable with Doncaster businesses, being held with key stakeholders to influence the final outcome of the plan.
“We need to understand what businesses need to support economic growth. The Doncaster Business Insight Survey captures an interesting snapshot of the successes and challenges that businesses are facing given the current uncertainties, economic trends and initiatives. It’s important for us at Doncaster Chamber, and other influencers, to be aware of business sentiment so that we can offer the right support, signpost to other providers, and address any concerns at the appropriate level,” says Dan Fell, CEO, Doncaster Chamber.
“We are aware that over the last few months a number of firms have reported thefts and vandalism; so we are asking questions about business crime, including cyber security, to be able to support businesses, the Police, and other stakeholders to get it addressed and ensure business doesn’t suffer.”
“Through conducting the Doncaster Business Insight Survey, in association with Doncaster MBC, Doncaster Chamber will gain a good snapshot of business needs, be better informed to influence key decision makers and ensure things get done.”
The local survey forms part of the national Quarterly Economic Survey carried out by the British Chambers of Commerce which is used to inform Governmental policy-makers and by the Bank of England and Treasury when making monetary policies and setting rates.
For every survey submitted by a Doncaster-based business, £1 will be donated to Doncaster-based The Children’s Sleep Charity. It takes only three minutes to complete, is open until Monday 17 September 2018 and can be taken by CEOs or senior managers of businesses with a DN postcode to do a quick sense check on how their business is doing in terms of recruitment, sales, profits, turnover, entering new markets and other key business issues.
