Dine Sheffield – Sheffield’s celebrated restaurant week – returns to the city centre next month, offering food lovers great deals at over 40 restaurants, cafés and bars.
The campaign will run between 10 and 20 October, in conjunction with Sheffield’s Off the Shelf literary festival – providing two fantastic reasons for people to visit the city centre this autumn.
Inspired by New York’s famous restaurant week and conceived by Sheffield BID, Dine Sheffield is now celebrating its fifth outing. It has become the leading element of Alive After Five – the BID’s major initiative to support the early evening economy in the city centre by promoting the fantastic food and drink and shopping offer.
Over 40 city centre food venues are once again set to offer bespoke menus at three set price points. In a slight twist to previous campaigns, new offer prices of £10, £15 and £20 have been introduced. The small bump in price has allowed for some more traditionally higher-priced restaurants to get involved, designed to provide more choice and variation for customers.
So, whether it’s brunch, a working lunch, a family meal or a long-overdue romantic date night, Dine Sheffield can save you a few pennies and allow you to sample Sheffield city centre’s vibrant food scene.
This year’s eateries feature many regular supporters of the scheme, including Cubana and Forum, as well as Craft and Dough, Smoke, Sakushi, Pieminister and The Botanist.
Several restaurants will be taking part in Dine Sheffield for the first time, including 200 Degrees Coffee, Piccolino, Street Food Chef and Wildwood. Six traders inside popular city centre food hall, Kommune, will also be participating.
Diane Jarvis, Sheffield BID Manager, said:
“Dine Sheffield attracts thousands of foodies to the city centre and has become a real celebration of the city’s vibrant and thriving dining scene.
“It’s a great opportunity for restaurants, bars and cafes to attract some new customers, while providing the perfect excuse for food lovers to go out there and try something new – all at an incredibly reasonable price.
“We have decided to run this particular restaurant week alongside Off the Shelf, another of the city’s renowned events. We hope this will encourage visitors to come into town and make a full evening of it and help create a bustling town centre.
“One of our key objectives at the BID is to keep Sheffield city centre busy throughout the year and continue to support our local businesses – particularly trying to grow the early evening economy after working hours. Dine Sheffield, and our packed events programme, is a key part of doing that.”
Matt Bigland, Director of The Milestone Group, said:
“DINE Sheffield is a brilliant incentive to work as a community with other local businesses, bars and restaurants, working as one to encourage more people to come, eat and stay in the city centre.
“The importance to work together in a city with incentives like this, is key to keeping the Sheffield pound in Sheffield. It’s really helped our business with driving more people through our doors, especially early evening and during the quieter months.”
Adrian Bagnoli, co-owner of Cubana, commented:
“Sheffield city centre has always had an excellent reputation for quality independent culinary offerings.
“Dine Sheffield is a celebration of the amazing variety that’s on offer. It gives people the perfect opportunity to experience an array of top-quality restaurants through a plethora of fantastic value deals.”
Kane Yeardley, Managing Director of True North Brew Co., said:
“As a business owner in the city centre, I welcome initiatives like Dine Sheffield. It allows smaller venders to offer great deals and is an opportunity for people to come into the city centre and try new places at a fraction of the cost.”
