Sol-X, one of the UK’s leading trade-only automotive treatments and chemicals producer, has increased its expansion into European markets having taken on a new client in Cyprus after exhibiting at the world’s leading trade fair for the automotive service industry in September 2018.
The Doncaster-based business, which was launched in 2008 and uses innovative solutions to overcome the challenges associated with the maintenance of modern vehicles, fills a gap in the market for high quality, trade-only automotive and engineering lubricants and aerosols.
With clear plans for expanding their current export client base, Managing Director, Richard Mason teamed up with Business Doncaster, a partner of Sheffield City Region Growth Hub Enhancement Project, for advice and guidance on driving the business forward.
The Sheffield City Region Growth Hub Enhancement Project aims to support high growth companies by providing businesses with intensive one-to-one support from a Key Account Manager and access to free Masterclasses delivered by private sector experts, and is financed by the England European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020.
Having exhibited at Automechanika, Frankfurt 2018, the 25th anniversary for the event which broke records as the largest of its kind to date, attracting 136,000 trade visitors from 181 countries, Sol-X had the opportunity to showcase its products amongst the industry’s most influential stakeholders and resultantly managed to secure additional international clients.
Richard said: “The support we’ve received from Business Doncaster has been invaluable, especially the advice provided by our Key Account Manager, Sharon Finch, when we approached them with our plans to attend the trade fair.”

Sol-X currently employs six and is on track to recruit a further two Sales Representatives in the next few months.
