Responding to the Prime Minister’s announcement of further restrictions to tackle the spread of Coronavirus, British Chamber of Commerce (BCC) Director General Adam Marshall said:

“Businesses must play their part to help limit the spread of Coronavirus.

“As the UK goes into lockdown, ministers must be crystal-clear about which businesses can continue to operate, and those which must now shut their doors.

“The new restrictions make it all the more important that the package of financial support announced by ministers last week is delivered to firms and employees on the ground as quickly as possible.”

Dan Fell, CEO at Doncaster Chamber, added:

“Doncaster has a high number of micro businesses that play a significant role in our economy.  It is therefore vitally important that Government urgently announces measures that will protect and support the self-employed through the current crisis.  This is massively important in the here and now but it is also crucial if we want the UK to emerge from the coronavirus pandemic valuing and rewarding entrepreneurship.

“Guidance and support for Doncaster businesses in the current climate is available via the Chamber and our close partners Business Doncaster; I would encourage all firms to reach out and ask for help if they need it.

“Similarly, any manufacturing businesses that might be able to play a part in the national effort to produce vital equipment – such as ventilators, PPE or hand sanitiser – should contact us and we will help to navigate you into the right parts of Government to take this opportunity forwards.”
