Commenting on the South Yorkshire devolution deal, Dan Fell, Chief Executive at Doncaster Chamber, said:
“Securing a South Yorkshire devolution deal is a positive step for Doncaster.
“Whilst the Chamber – led by member sentiment – has, and continues to advocate for full Yorkshire devolution, Doncaster businesses have always been pragmatic about how this is achieved and the need to take iterative steps in pursuit of the ultimate prize.
“This compelling deal is, however, more than just a stepping stone and could be welcome to an economy beset by uncertainty.
The Chamber congratulate all who have shown determination and pragmatism to get this across the line at this crucial time.
“We would further urge all involved in carrying out and delivering the deal to be highly ambitious in their plans.
To this end, it is essential that the private sector is engaged in shaping future plans for the region.
This will ensure that the money reaches the parts it needs to maximise opportunities in South Yorkshire.”
