Employees at Sheffield-based B. Braun Medical Ltd have danced their way to victory during ‘On Your Feet Britain Day’ 2019.
Staff at the leading healthcare company participated in a high-intensity Clubbercise session to get them ‘moving more’ and ‘sitting less’, and in the process won £250 to spend on standing desk equipment in Active Working’s social media competition.
‘On Your Feet Britain Day’ is part of the Get Britain Standing initiative by Active Working and aims to raise awareness of the effects of prolonged sitting in the workplace.
Andrew Picken, B. Braun’s dedicated health and wellbeing adviser, said: “The session was led by Shahina Hanif who usually leads our Zumba classes. We also had our Health Safety Assistant Maxine Frear dress up as a unicorn to get everyone in the spirit.
“Clubbercise is a new form of exercise class that combines easy-to-follow dance, toning and combat moves with high and low impact options to suit all abilities set to anything from 90s floor-fillers to current chart toppers.”
Winners of the competition were selected by a panel who chose the best entries submitted with the hashtags #movemore #sitless and #OYF.
Of more than 2,000 businesses that took part, B. Braun’s social media post was selected as the winning entry.
The prize winning £250 can be redeemed at the UK’s largest exclusive supplier of active office furniture online, Sit-Stand.com.
Mr Picken added: “The purchase of new standing desk equipment will encourage people to take breaks from their desks and keep moving.”
