The Government and the NP11 have joined together as an official partner for MIPIM 2020 to deliver an exciting programme of events during the four-day estates and property investor conference in Cannes, France.

The NP11 is the business-led voice for the North that brings together the region’s 11 Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs). It consists of Sheffield City Region LEP, Leeds City Region LEP, Cheshire & Warrington LEP, Cumbria LEP, Greater Manchester LEP, Humber LEP, Lancashire LEP, Liverpool City Region LEP, North East LEP, Tees Valley LEP York, North Yorkshire and East Riding LEP.

Dave Smith, CEO of Sheffield City Region, said: “This is a great opportunity for us to collaborate with the other regions across the north, to demonstrate how, together, we can drive forward the UK economy through innovation.  Our specialisms in advanced manufacturing, digital and healthcare, combined with our great quality of life, connectivity and the wealth of skills we have here means we’re in a great position to attract interest and investment.”

MIPIM delegates attending the Northern Powerhouse events will have the opportunity to discover more about how major infrastructure plans are shaping up for the North to develop its culture, heritage, skills and talent. During a series of seminars and roundtable discussions, placemaking experts and potential investors will focus on proposals to transform the North’s housing landscape, as well as opportunities around transport and digital connectivity via major projects such as HS2 and Northern Powerhouse Rail.

Taking the format of breakfast meetings, afternoon seminars and evening receptions, the events each have carefully selected keynote speakers and panellists, with the opportunity to network with Northern Powerhouse representatives, investors and developers.

Roger Marsh, Chair of the Northern Powerhouse, said: “These events will look at the major infrastructure developments that are currently underway across the North of England.  With significant plans for the region to take charge of its own destiny and to lead on transformative initiatives such as the green industrial revolution, now is an incredibly exciting time to collaborate with the North’s leaders and become part of a project that will bolster the UK’s post-Brexit prosperity.

“Through our collective participation in MIPIM, we hope to build on long-term partnerships and attract further foreign direct and capital investment into many of the North’s world-class projects.”

The Northern Powerhouse is recognised internationally as home to billions of pounds worth of exciting opportunities for international investors. Projects from across the region represent a variety of sectors including energy, automotive, aerospace, tech, advanced manufacturing, life sciences, financial, business, professional services and digital.

With a rapidly growing economy, business services in the Northern Powerhouse grew by over 20,000 jobs in five years; its advanced manufacturing grew by 13% in five years and its creative and digital sector is growing faster than anywhere else in the UK.
