Sheffield Hallam University has been awarded an inaugural, national award for the development and implementation of its Transforming Lives strategy.
The first annual Higher Education Strategic Planners Association (HESPA) awards sought to highlight innovation and dedication in planning and Sheffield Hallam has been recognised under the Strategy Award.
In 2016, the University began a thorough-going review of its strategy, re-examining its vision, values, mission and plans; asking and answering fundamental questions about the University, its impact and the way it works.
The resulting Transforming Lives strategy was designed and implemented holistically, leading to fundamental changes in every aspect of University business – from its teaching and learning, to its organisational structure, its buildings and its relationships with its staff.
Two years on, the impact of the strategy is beginning to be seen, both inside the University, with improvements made across key indicators of performance such as student satisfaction and employability, and in the region, through ground-breaking programmes such as South Yorkshire Futures.
Linda Mason, director of strategy, planning and insight at the University, said: “We are very proud to have been recognised by our professional network – the Higher Education Strategic Planners Association (HESPA), for the development and implementation of the University’s Transforming Lives Strategy.
