An album with a difference gets its official unveiling at Leopold Square’s Cubana this Thursday evening (November 29th).

‘Buenas Vibras’ is the debut release by a talented group of Hispanic Studies students from the University of Sheffield and is set to be performed in its entirety at the event.

Up to 14 students have spent the past few weeks recording and working on the album with the project overseen by the University of Sheffield’s Dr Peter Watt.

He said: “This project has allowed students to explore the influence of popular music in Hispanic Studies in a very hands-on and unique way.”

The album launch after-party includes a late-night Latin jazz jam featuring Cubana favourite Piero Tucci on saxophone and Dr Pete Watt on piano.

The whole event is free and starts at 8pm.

The album comprises re-workings of Latin-inspired songs like Tuyo from the TV series Narcos.
