The Moor has been named as an associate partner for Off the Shelf 2019, hosted in Sheffield and now firmly established as one of the most prestigious literary festivals in the UK.
Bringing some of the best-known names in writing and literature to our city, Off the Shelf offers a broad programme showcasing literature, politics, poetry, journalism, music, history, science and more… attracting audiences from numerous communities across the region, and beyond.
During the festival the Moor will be running a competition for families giving a chance to win an array of prizes, plus books from Off the Shelf. One object from a well-known children’s book will be placed somewhere within the Light Cinema bar / café area each week during the three weeks of the festival. Participants will have to identify the object and famous book it is from, and email the answer to admin@moorsheffield.com along with their name and address to be in a chance of winning.
Inspired by the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing, the Moor Digi Screen will be part of a TV takeover event on Monday 7th October when screens across the city will broadcast a specially commissioned short film from 11am – 1pm. The event will be reminiscent of people everywhere tuning into the televised Moon Landing back in 1969.
Amanda Phillips, Centre Manager for The Moor said: “We are delighted to be part of Off the Shelf once again – a major festival in the city’s annual calendar. There is always something for everyone taking place at various great spaces and places, including our fabulous family competition on The Moor.”
