The Design Futures packaging team has been recognised as Design Team of the Year for the third time at the UK Packaging Awards 2019.

The prestigious award was presented at a black-tie awards ceremony in Grosvenor House, London.

Packaging design studio creative director John Kirkby, who received the award on behalf of the team, said: “We are delighted to win this award. It is recognition for the hard work and expertise of our packaging team.

“Our work is very varied and this category allows us to showcase a wide range of skills and talent. As creative director of a packaging design team there is no better accolade than winning design team of the year at these awards.”

This year’s entry included work for a number of Art & Design Research Centre research projects, including Lab4living‘s Journeying Through Dementia and Life Café work, as well as design work for national and local companies.

In addition, the team was awarded Highly Commended for ‘Best New Concept Award’ for their GreenCool – Eco Cool Box, and shortlisted for ‘Flexible Plastic Pack of the Year’. The Design Futures team has won the Design Team of the Year award on two previous occasions, among other prizes.

Award sponsor, The On-Pack Recycling Label scheme (OPRL), particularly rewards packaging professionals who go the extra mile in embedding recyclability and sustainability into packaging design, and helping their clients to engage their customers in the circular economy.
