Sheffield’s Lord Mayor, Councillor Majid Majid, is set to unveil the biggest shake-up in menswear at the city’s longest serving independent department store in two decades.
The Moor’s Atkinsons has been undergoing a renaissance under the tenure of manager David Cartwright as it looks to broaden its appeal and attract younger shoppers.
A brand new menswear department heralds the introduction of more youthful brands like SuperDry, Only & Sons and Jack Jones. They now sit alongside the store’s more long established lines.
“We couldn’t think of a better person to unveil our new-look menswear department than Councillor Majid Majid. He has introduced the office of Lord Mayor to younger audiences and we’re honoured that such an influential figure will play such a big part in a historic day for Atkinsons”, said David.
The store has undergone a huge makeover in recent months.
He added: “Atkinsons boasts an enviable and loyal customer base but we’re well aware we need to attract new audiences. High street retail is facing massive challenges in 2019 but our independence and long history means we’re far more adept to dealing with change than many.
“Atkinsons continues to look ahead and offers a diversity that would you would be hard pressed to find elsewhere. Our aim is always to be ‘independent and individual’.”
The Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Councillor Majid Majid is set to unveil the new first floor menswear department at 11am on Tuesday, April 9.
