The Sheffield Digital Showcase is a quarterly event series that celebrates digital work produced in the city, across the whole of the digital media and tech industries.
Much of the work created here in Sheffield, from new software platforms and apps, to digital marketing campaigns, video games and art installations, immersive experiences and digitally fabricated and connected products, is recognised around the world but little known in its home city – we want to see this work, find out how it came about and meet the people behind it!
The event will take place on Thursday 27 June, from 5:30pm until 8pm in the Creative Lounge at the Workstation on Paternoster Row, in the Cultural Industries Quarter. It is produced in association with The Platform, the digital and creative industry business networking event hosted by Showroom Workstation in partnership with Sheffield Technology Parks and Business Sheffield.
The format of the Digital Showcase is part ‘talk show’ style presentations and part networking:
We invite five sets of people responsible for a recently produced digital product, service or experience to join us on stage in front of the audience, to talk about their project, how it came about, who is behind it, how it was produced and what the impact has been so far. Each of these five conversations takes roughly ten minutes, with the host asking clarifying questions on behalf of the audience.
Once the presentations and other announcements are over, food is served and participants are invited to network and talk to the guests, and each other, in more detail until the event finishes at 8pm.
The lineup of guests is still being finalised, but so far confirmed are:
- Kisha Bradley, founder of Bright Box MakerSpace
- Jamie Hinton and Andy Gunn of technology consultancy Razor
- Gemma Barnes and Nigel Jones from HM Prison and Probation Service Digital Studio
- David Forrester and Jamie Tyler from Lightwork Design
