The Office Heroes Awards are returning for a second year to honour Sheffield’s ‘unsung workplace champions’.

The awards aim to recognise those who go the extra mile in their work and are created and organised by Glu Recruit and this year unLTD are teaming up with Glu and encouraging readers to get involved!

In hosting the awards, Sheffield-based recruitment firm Glu are keen to shift typical industry awards focus from job titles or turnover figures, to show a more human side to the workplace.

Businesses in the Sheffield City Region are being encouraged to nominate the employees they believe are the crème de la crème in their workplace – whether these are hard workers, morale boosters, team players or generally just great to have around.

For this year’s ceremony, held on the 29th November between 2 and 4pm at The Leopold Hotel in Sheffield, a panel of leading business figures will be drawing up the shortlist of ten finalists before the judges award the chosen winner, highly commended finalists and special mentions.

Along with unLTD’s very own Phil Turner, the judging panel will include:

  • Ashlea McConnell – MK PR
  • James Biggin – Steel City
  • Craig Batham – Connect Yorkshire
  • Brendan Hall – Hallmark Branding

At last year’s ceremony, ‘Director of Happiness’ Jo Reid was the night’s big winner.

Jo, officially the business manager at South Yorkshire Community Foundation (SYCF), was recognised with the award for boosting team morale – something she attributes to ‘baking for the team, organising social events and just generally cheering everyone on!’

Jo said: “I’ve worked for the foundation for three and a half years and it’s definitely the nicest job I’ve ever had. It’s great to feel like you’re doing something worthwhile when you go to work, because you’re helping so many people who do so much good in the community.

“It’s a lovely acknowledgement from the team and it was great to receive some recognition and appreciation for my work. It’s just nice to make people smile.”

Glu Recruit MD Rob Shaw said: “It’s great to have unLTD involved in our search looking for businesses in the Sheffield City Region to nominate their personal Office Heroes – employees who are not necessarily in the limelight but play a key part in keeping everything ship shape within a business.

“Hardworking employees can often go unsung in the workplace and it’s heart-warming for us to be able to show some gratitude and give something back to those who work tirelessly day in, day out.”
