Barnsley College has launched a new top-up degree in Leadership and Management in Public Services, designed for those wishing to work in a range of public services roles.
The BA (Hons) Top-Up offers an exciting and challenging insight into the modern contemporary issues that impact the lives of millions of people within society, including offender management within the criminal justice system, marginalisation, societal inequalities, policy development and finance and funding.
Public service organisations actively look for innovative, creative and inspiring individuals to lead their services and this Level 6 qualification is tailored to promote these skills and qualities and apply them to real world circumstances.
Luke Hellewell, Public Services HE Pathway Leader at Barnsley College, said: “We are incredibly excited to offer a contemporary and industry specific Level 6 top-up qualification in Leadership and Management in the Public Services. In designing this programme it was incredibly important that students get a real opportunity to gain industry experience and have the ability to convert theory into practice, as this is held in high regard by public service organisations – we believe we have the balance just right.
“We are certain that this qualification will place students in a very strong position to progress onto relevant careers through the holistic approach to student development which is strongly embedded throughout. The programme has been highly commended by the University of Hull and has been developed with the help of a number of public service organisations including South Yorkshire Police.”
