‘Do it for me, do it for you. Do it for the one in two’ – businesses urged to join The Master Cutler’s Challenge for Weston Park Cancer Charity

Weston Park Cancer Charity is to be the main beneficiary of funds raised through the 2020 Master Cutler’s Challenge in what is a milestone year for Weston Park Hospital, as it marks its 50th year of treating patients.

Weston Park Cancer Charity CEO, Samantha Dixon, tells unLTD why it means so much to the charity to be nominated. and how businesses can contribute.

What is the Master Cutler’s Challenge?

Every year, the Master Cutler presents a crisp £50 note to businesses, organisations and groups of individuals who sign up to see how much they can turn that into for chosen charities.

We’re delighted that in the hospital’s 5oth anniversary year, we have been chosen as the sole beneficiary of the 2020 Master Cutler’s Challenge! Early interest has been very encouraging – and we were over the moon that first to sign up were our very own porters at the hospital!

We’re really looking forward to seeing what they do!

Why Weston Park Cancer Charity?

One in two of us will be affected by cancer in our lifetime, and your money will help us be there for anyone who needs us. Every year we need to raise at least £2.7 million to keep funding life-saving research and support services which help patients and their families through diagnosis, treatment and beyond.

Weston Park is one of just 18 experimental cancer medical centres in the UK and around 600 patients participate in a clinical trial each year – developing expertise which is improving our understanding of cancer and treatments and which has changed the outcome for many Weston Park Patients.

How can businesses join in the fun?

We’re encouraging businesses across South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and North Nottinghamshire to sign up for and attend the Master Cutler’s Challenge Launch Event on Thursday 27th February.

At this inspiring event at Sheffield Cutler’s Hall you will receive your £50 and then have six months to turn that into as much money as possible using nothing but your entrepreneurial skills, know-how, inventiveness, fun, team spirit and sheer grit and determination. There’s loads of fundraising ideas on our website, and don’t forget to keep us up to date with your journey – we’d love to share your story and find out what your motivations are for taking part before we close the Challenge and celebrate all your amazing achievements in the autumn.
