Sheffield Chamber President writes to local MPs calling for a fully operational test and trace system

Sheffield Chamber President, Matt Jackson has formally written to local MPs in Sheffield to cite the importance of establishing a fully operational test and trace system.

In an open letter to MPs Mr Jackson highlighted the growing concern within the Chamber membership and referred to the results coming from the latest Quarterly Economic Survey.

The figures clearly indicate that business conditions remain weak and challenging in the third quarter of 2020. He used the results of the survey as a basis to support the calls of the British Chambers of Commerce for the Government to go further and faster in developing its test and trace system.

Mr Jackson said: “It’s vitally important that Chamber network works together at this point in time to reinforce the messages that are being pushed into Government by the British Chambers of Commerce.

“To improve business confidence and keep our economy open we are reliant on a world class test and trace system. Government promised this and they must deliver! Our business communities face challenges right across the UK and Sheffield is no exception.

“As a Chamber we stand ready to advocate on behalf of our members to ensure they receive the financial support they deserve which needs to be backed up by a fully operational test and trace system.”
